Q: Hi! I’m having a dinner with some friends. Can you give me a quote?

A: There are several factors that will determine the cost of your event. All pricing is per person based on what you order. Ask to see my seasonal menu and I’ll email you a menu with prices included so you can get a better idea of what it will cost for what your group wants to order.

Q: How is a private chef different from a caterer?

A: traditional catering companies are a wonderful option for large events or if you are needing everything provided at your event (tables, cutlery, etc.). My private chef services are catering to more intimate events. I can only work in a home or rental that has a kitchen and I am more focused on the smaller dinner party experiences. This is a lovely option for a backyard wedding, a special celebration with family and friends or just because you wanna have a sweet dinner party. Think of this more as having the restaurant come to you rather than having food catered. I will work with you to dream up this lovely intimate in home experience!

Q: Can you make dinner for my group on a holiday?

A: I spend Major Holidays with my family (Thanksgiving, christmas eve, christmas day). Other holidays are booked on a first come first serve basis and there is a $800 minimum for other holidays (valentines, labor and memorial day weekend, easter etc.)

Q: What is included in your services?

A: there are a couple of options to choose from. My basic service includes me coming to your home or rental, preparing the food and serving it family style to be passed around on platters. Then I will clean up my mess in the kitchen and get out of your hair. You have an option to upgrade to my deluxe service and that includes me setting the table nicely, staying until the dinner has been finished to wrap up and store away any leftovers, and wash your dinnerware so you can relax and not have to worry about cleaning anything up at the end of the night.

Q: Can you provide a server to clear dishes, pour wine, fill water glasses etc.?

A: Many times people like to have an extra hand at the event. I am not always available to run outside to answer questions, take photos, and bring extra pepper to the table. It’s not that i don’t want to help but i would hate for your food to get burned while I’m helping set forks out for dinner. if I have plenty of notice to hire someone, i can bring a server along to help with any details for an extra special event so no one is having to get up for more wine!

Q: we have a very special birthday and the birthday person wants their most favorite dish to be prepared. Would you consider a custom menu?

A: Absolutely! I am happy to help make your special vision come true. Just let me know what theme or dish you have in mind and I would love to create a custom menu for you. Check out my “custom events” page under menus to see some sample menus from past custom events.

Q: We love your menu but i don’t think my group will want to eat most of that stuff. can you make us a new menu with different ingredients?

A: This has been a tough one to navigate. While I’m happy to consider a special dish you have in mind, if you aren’t sure what you want and don’t want anything on my seasonal menu I would be happy to recommend some restaurants that would better fit the dinner you are looking for. I’ve found that most inquiries like this lead to hours spent making new menus and then never hearing back so i kindly ask that if you don’t have a vision or don’t like anything on my seasonal menu that you consider a restaurant or a chef that better aligns with the experience you’re looking for.

Q: do you provide dinnerware, cutlery, napkins, tables, etc.?

A: since this isn’t a traditional catering company, i do not provide dinnerware etc. I know of some companies that rent these things if you don’t think your rental/home will have enough dinnerware to support your event. For a small fee I am happy to even pick up the rentals and bring them with me to your event. I can provide napkins if the group is the right size.

Q: we love your desserts but have a birthday party. Could you make a birthday cake?

A: As much as I have tried and willed myself to be a baker, i’m just not a pastry chef. I am happy to bring candles to place on any of my existing dessert options! With that being said, I have a simple cake on each of my seasonal menus that i can make for a group that i promise are delicious. However, i cant draw a picture or write words on your cake :/ I know of the most incredible bake shop ever that i can recommend if you want to have the birthday cake of your dreams for your loved one(s).

Q: we saw your menu and want to book this experience but the cost is out of our budget. Would you consider price matching from the catering company we’ve been talking to?

A: I would offer my food to everyone for free if I could. I love to feed people and I wish I could provide every client with what they want for a price that doesn’t stretch them too thin. HOwever, this is different than traditional catering. I DO NOT ORDER MY INGREDIENTS FROM THE SAME BULK FOOD PROVIDERS THAT MOST RESTAURANTS AND CATERERS DO, THEREFORE MY COST OF GOODS IS MUCH HIGHER THAN MOST CATERING COMPANIES. I have had clients that gave me a budget that I felt I could work with and I create menu’s for them BASED OFF OF THAT. THE REASON I GOT INTO THIS BUSINESS IS BECAUSE I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT FOOD BUT ALSO ABOUT FARMING AND SOURCING FRESH, QUALITY INGREDIENTS. I WILL TRY TO WORK WITH YOU BUT I AM UNWILLING TO SACRIFICE QUALITY FOR PRICE. I HAVE BULK ORDERED LOW QUALITY FOOD IN THE PAST TO MEET CLIENT NEEDS AND I JUST DID NOT FEEL GOOD ABOUT THE WORK. IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE MY SERVICES BUT YOU CAN’T PAY FOR YOUR GROUP THIS TIME PLEASE REACH OUT TO ASK ABOUT MY DINNER FOR TWO SERVICE. I WOULD LOVE TO WORK WITH EACH AND EVERY PERSON BUT MY PRICES ARE FIRM AND AS FAIR AS I CAN MAKE THEM FOR THE CURRENT COST OF GOODS AND SERVICES IN THE DESCHUTES COUNTY AREA.
