My name is Sarah and I am a private chef living in Bend, Oregon but offering my services to all of the Deschutes County area. I want to work to create unforgettable in home dining experiences for the locals and visitors of Central Oregon.

I found myself here in Bend after growing up in Oklahoma, going to college in Missouri, working at a dude ranch in Colorado and then wandering out to the west coast with my big brother in search of some good mountains to live in. I have not looked back since the day I first arrived in Oregon for a visit back in late 2015. This business started as an ad on craigslist that read something like “let me cook dinner for you and your friends in your airbnb”. After my first gig I was hooked and basically just started asking anyone and everyone if they needed a private chef and the answer was yes! Bend started to grow at a rapid rate that I had not anticipated when I first moved and, before I knew it, I had become a full time private chef and the work has been overwhelmingly rewarding.

As far as my food inspirations go, I grew up in Oklahoma with a Creole mother who loves to create beautiful and soul fulfilling food in the kitchen. I spent a lot of time in my mom’s hometown of Natchitoches, Louisiana and picked up a lot of my inspirations there. I loved going to my grandma’s house growing up because she had a garden that always had fresh green beans and okra and I loved to go pick the beans and string them for dinner. The fact that we got to harvest and catch our own food down there was a huge part of what made me fall in love with cajun and creole cooking. I have also had the pleasure of traveling all around Europe and Central America and picked up many new and tasty techniques and recipes during my travels there. 

Professionally, I have worked in banquets and a dude ranch kitchen, but spent most of my time in a scratch kitchen learning from one of the best chefs on the west coast. We used traditional french cooking techniques and found many ways to give our food a fresh and modern flare. I also worked in a scratch bakery here in Bend and soaked up as much knowledge as I could from the wonderful savory and pastry chef there. I have taken all of that knowledge I acquired along the way and put it into this business to provide you with as much variety as possible to accommodate every client and event that comes my way. My focus when creating menus is in sourcing local and seasonal products. I enjoy going to the market to see what looks fresh and nutritious that day for creating a meal rather than being tied down to a very specific recipe.

I have a new idea just about every day and I love to work with my clients to create personalized events while considering every aspect of a good dinner. I want to bring people together to sit down to a beautifully set table and enjoy a wholesome, flavorful, and mindfully prepared meal together.
